Understanding stakeholder and system dynamics
Welcome to Module 2! In this module, we focus on the foundation of any successful engagement process: understanding the context in which you work. Whether you are engaging at the community, national, or international level, it is essential to first make sense of the environment, its dynamics, and how it connects with how decisions are made..
In this module, we explore the social, political, economic, and ecological processes that shape decision-making in your context. Attention is given to the drivers of change, both internal and external, and the ways they interact to create opportunities or challenges in your case. The module also guides you in mapping stakeholders: who they are, what motivates them, and how they could influence outcomes.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Analyze system, stakeholder, and power dynamics within your decision case.
- Identify key drivers of change and how they affect decisions.
- Map stakeholders and understand their motivations and influence.
- Draft a stakeholder engagement plan aligned with decision cycles and intervention points.
