Gender and Inclusion in Forest Landscape Restoration

What does Gender and Social Inclusion have to do with FLR?
An estimated 1.6 billion people around the world depend on forests and tree-based landscapes for their livelihoods and well being. However, not all these people have equal power to decide how resources are shared and distributed. Women’s access and rights to forest, tree and other natural resources are often insecure, and in many instances, women’s participation in decision-making regarding the management of these resources is limited.
This course offers a comprehensive overview of gender and social inclusion, empowering stakeholders in FLR initiatives to address unequal decision-making power and include the voices of marginalized groups for more sustainable and equitable outcomes.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain key concepts related to FLR, gender, and their interlinkages.
- Unpack why and how addressing gender equality is relevant to restoration.
- Identify and elaborate opportunities to integrate gender equality considerations within restoration initiatives.
