Integrating Evidence:
Using evidence for inclusive decision-making
In this module, we explore how evidence can be integrated into stakeholder engagement processes to support more informed, inclusive, and impactful decisions in complex land use and landscape contexts.
While engagement often emphasizes dialogue and consensus, it may overlook the critical role that evidence; scientific, local, experiential, or institutional can play in understanding systems, identifying trade offs, and shaping equitable outcomes.
Building on previous modules, we will examine how different forms of evidence contribute to decision-making and how facilitators can support their meaningful integration. This is especially important in multifunctional landscapes, where stakeholders often bring diverse values, interests, and power dynamics to the table
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Understand the role of evidence in stakeholder engagement.
- Identify different types and sources of evidence, and how they influence decisions.
- Describe methods for gathering, analyzing, and communicating evidence effectively.
- Recognize how knowledge is co-produced through participatory processes.
